"IF FATE WAS A TWO-SIDED COIN, I CHOSE TAILS SO EMILY COULD WIN HEADS."
When Mob Boss, Olivia Dixon's twin sister Emily suddenly goes missing, Olivia is hellbent on not just rescuing her but destroying the people responsible, no matter who that ends up being.
A guilt-ridden Olivia is convinced that they've got the wrong sister. After all, Emily's life is pretty tame by comparison. Instead of working with knives and guns, she teaches five-year-old kids how to spell.
In a last ditch attempt to find her, Olivia takes her sister's place; at work, with friends and perhaps more importantly even in Emily's husband's bed.
“Don’t think it,” Jack mutters from where he’s sat opposite me at the breakfast bar, drinking a cup of tea.
The house is quieter now, most of the guys having been sent off on various errands, mostly just so that I can have a second’s peace to right my thoughts.
I glance up at my Uncle, opening my mouth to tell him to mind his own business. I want to lose my temper with someone and he’s right here. I want to tell him that he has no fucking idea what I’m thinking.
The clear and precise logic that has gotten me through the last few hours is now gone and my temper is definitely frayed.
“You’re thinking that if she’s not pressed the panic button by now,” he begins.
“That’s not what I’m thinking at all,” I retort angrily.
“You’re also thinking that if we haven’t received a ransom yet…” He says it so matter-of-factly, far easier than I’d be able to.
“What do you mean?” Todd asks.
Glancing across the room to where he had until a moment ago been pacing back and forth, I grimace.
“Jack is just talking shit,” I say, lying as easily as I always do. “It means nothing. He’s reading into stuff without any fucking evidence.”
“Like you’re not doing the same bloody thing,” Jack says testily.
“Good job you’re my Uncle,” I say, holding his eye for longer than he’d like. As family, Uncle Jack has always gotten away with more than my other subordinates, but that doesn’t mean he can be disrespectful.
He bows his head slightly, his tone immediately changing. “Sorry, boss.”
It doesn’t matter how long I’ve had the job; I still hate that word. Like I’m some big, bad mob boss out for blood. I shake my head. The last thing I want is to argue with Jack. I like the fact he calls me on my shit. It’s not something I want to discourage. I just don’t want to deal with the real possibility that my sister might be dead.
I reach over the breakfast bar and pat his elbow, before pointedly looking at Todd, giving him the silent message that I don’t know how much we should be telling Emily’s husband.
His eyes soften with new understanding. He forgets that I have a soft heart sometimes. They all do. They’ve seen me kill people so I guess it’s understandable.
Sighing, I decide to bite the bullet. I take a breath before turning to Todd.
“Remember how I told you about the panic button?” I don’t know why I’m asking such an obvious question. He’s not stupid. Although in fairness I don’t actually know that. I know next to nothing about him, except that his name is Todd.
He nods his head, his impatience showing on his face.
“The fear is that if she hasn’t pressed it yet, that either she’s somewhere where the GPS won’t get a signal or they’ve taken it from her.”
“Okay,” he replies. “Those options don’t sound great but they’re not dreadful.
“The other option is that she’s already dead,” I say bluntly and his eyes all but pop out of their sockets.
“What?” he splutters.
Deliver good news leisurely and bad news hurriedly, that’s what my mum always said. She said it was akin to pulling off a plaster and giving a kiss. You don’t peel off a plaster teasingly any more than you’d ever rush a kiss.
“That’s the fear,” I say. “It doesn’t make it any more or less likely than it was two hours ago.”
His expression tells me he would have preferred I told him two hours ago.
“We should call the police.”
“They won’t be able to do anything that we’re not already doing,” I tell him. “In fact, there are things I can do that they can’t.”
“Like what?” he demands heatedly, slamming his fist on the breakfast bar.
“Illegal things. Hacking. Paying for information. Hitting people for information. Murder, if necessary.” I say it all as if I do those sort of things every day, which of course, I don’t. I mean I deal in illegal arms and I’ve occasionally gotten into the drug trade and okay, yes, I’ve killed a few people over the years, but I’m not… I’m not really sure how I’d like to finish that thought. I’m not a monster? A bad person?
I don’t like the look in his eyes. He’s judging me and usually, that wouldn’t bother me, but strangely I really don’t want my sister’s husband to hate me.
“Off point much?” Jack barks irritably. “More important than all that is the fact we’ve still not had a ransom.”
“So?” Todd asks, his eyes still on me.
I don’t want to tell him. I don’t want to say the words.
“It’s highly likely,” I grit my teeth, “that whoever took Emily mistook her for me.”
“And?” He’s glaring at me. If he hates me now, it will be twice as bad in a second.
“If that’s the case, they most likely won’t be after money,” I tell him. “It’ll be revenge.”
“You’re saying they’re going to kill her?”
“I’m saying that it’s highly probable that she may already be dead,” I say, my voice catching. Or being tortured to within an inch of her life, I finish in my head.
“However,” Jack chimes in, in what can only be described as false bravado, “the fact that we’ve not received a bragging photo of Emily’s corpse is very reassuring.”
“What the fuck?” Todd practically shouts at the same time I lung for my Uncle Jack.
I mean he’s right, but did he really have to say it like that.
“What the hell is wrong with you people?” Todd is now on a full-on rant and I don’t have the energy to try and calm him down.

There are a whole ton of #free #romance #books just waiting for you to #read them! It would be ace if you'd check them out. There are over 50 in total so just the right number to keep you reading all the way through August.
This #collection houses the hottest reads imaginable! Who needs a fireplace when these fiery #reads will keep you hot and bothered! #Claim as many #books, as you like. #Available for #free for a #limited #time.
If you're anything like me, it's completely impossible to settle for just one #favourite #book. I've been thinking about this a lot recently. It doesn't matter how much #time I try to lay aside to #read, it never seems to be enough.
I thought I'd #share with you some of my all time #favourite #book. Some are super #old, others are #children #books (because even at the age of twenty-nine they still mean a lot to me), others are #naughty #romance #books...
Although I'm listing #ten, it's important to say they are not in any particular order...
I have always been a big fat Harry Potter #geek! As a teenager I wrote Harry Potter #fanfiction... Yes, I was that cool. You can probably still find me on FanFiction.Net LOL! I still get reviews now... even after all these years and requests to finish my longest #series.
As a teenager I was #obsessed with Jane #Austen but where everyone else seems to always think P&P when they think about Jane Austen, my heart automatically goes to #Persuasion. I don't know if it's because even back then I was in love with the idea of #SecondChanceRomance or what... but I flipping love this #book!
To risk offending people, I have to say that the #Crossfire #series really didn't get enough attention. It is 100 times, if not more, better than Fifty Shades and yet it isn't a household name. Gideon Cross is insanely hot and I really love Eva. She's way better than Anna. Just saying. Go Sylvia Day! You're my idol.
I've read pretty much everything Bladon has written. She's awesome. If you think I write a lot of Cliffhangers, you have no idea! Deborah Bladon's cliffies are insane.
I might be the only one that loves to cry... If a book makes me cry, I'm pretty much guaranteed to love it. Of course, I watched the film too... but the book was a thousand times better. Just saying.
I love #old stuff... in case you haven't realised. I'm totally infatuated with Mr #Thornton from North & South. Elizabeth #Gaskell is probably my all time #favourite #author. I mean who doesn't swoon over a broody, arrogant man in a cravat?
I don't know if you know MC #Beaton. She #writes everything from #historical #romance to #murder #mysteries. And I'm #obsessed with her #books. If you watch #British tv, you might have seen the #series Agatha #Raisin...
I love this book! I can't tell you how much I wish it was true. A love that transcends time? How amazing is that???
I read this #series first when I was in my teens and it inspired a lot of crazy ideas in my mind. One day I will #write my own #Angel #romance... just give me time. I already have the bones.
I read the first two #books in this series earlier this year and am currently waiting for the next one. If you love #PNR and #Vampires, #Demons and #Angels and all that stuff, you'll love Lexi's #books. Also, it's worth saying she's a complete gem.
One thing that I really love about the Hanleigh's #London #Saga is that all of the #female #characters are #strong #independent #women. As a #reader, there is nothing I hate more than weak, easily controlled women. I like it when the #books I #read give me characters that I can actually relate to or want to be like.
I'd like to take a second to introduce you to some of my leading ladies!
Aurora is a twenty-something PGCE student (she's training to become a teacher) in the Rules Series when she meets Landon Peters (sexy billionaire CEO). Aurora is super pretty with dark chestnut coloured hair.
She is very kind and fiercely loyal. She's a stickler for the rules and can sometimes be a little bit overbearing. She loves her privacy and loves reading.
Clara is a red head and she has the fiery temper to match. She's not the most forgiving person and is often scared to trust people.
She is really funny, highly sarcastic and downright cheeky at times.
Clara works for TRW Advertising where she re-meets Andrew Contius, her high school bully.
Tallulah is an artist. She's bubbly and happy and seriously outgoing and confident. You might even say she's completely lost her rocker.
When something awful happens to her, she loses herself a little bit. But with time and some serious strength on her part, she finds herself again.
You can read Aurora, Clara and Tallulah's stories in the Hanleigh's London Saga as well as the stories of more strong independent women!

Hello Lovelies! Today I thought I'd take a second to answer some of the #questions that I often get asked about The #History #Series. I started #writing the #series all the way back in 2016 and finished it last year with the #release of A History in Paris. I am also really excited to announce that in the next few months I will be looking to add this series to #Radish.
I don't often talk about why I wrote the history #series for a very simple reason. It's actually very #personal. At the time of #writing the #series, I was trying to grapple with some pretty hard stuff. My #mum, who has a brain injury, wasn't doing very well and was often #depressed. Then in the new year of 2016 she attempted #suicide. It was whilst my mum spent a few weeks in the psychiatric hospital that I actually began #writing Repeating History, #book one in the series.
If you've not read the series yet then you won't know, but Andrew, our leading man, his mum suffers from #depression and has tried to kill herself on two separate occasions, both around the #holidays. As I was #writing, how I felt about my mum was put into Andrew's #character. All my #anger, #pain, #sadness. My #fear. All of it.
It's difficult to answer that to be honest. I love Andrew, perhaps because I relate to his #pain so much. I love how he hides behind jokes and #humour. Even in his worst moments, I find it so easy to #love him. But I also have a soft spot for Maya, Andrew's sister. I love how completely #random and #whimsical she is. And I love how much her two big brothers want to protect her.
Andrew #bullied Clara in #school. That's the horrid #history that they have to face as #adults. Most kids at some point in their school #experience will face #bullying. It's horrible and can have an awful effect on mental health and self esteem. I was bullied as a kid, so I could totally relate to Clara. I can't imagine anything worse than finding out that the boy who bullied me at school is now my #work #colleague. No matter how old you get, the past is still there. But I didn't want that pain to be something that was just one sided. As awful as bullying is for the victim, I also wanted to show that not everything is as clear cut as we often think. Andrew, like every bully, had reasons for his behaviour. It didn't excuse it. Didn't make it right or okay. But that's reality. All the shitty things we do and all the hurtful words we use, they're all caused by something, usually our own pain.
I also wanted to show that there are #consequences. Andrew has to face the consequences of his childhood bullying, when the girl he bullied ends up being the woman he falls in love with. Fate likes to fuck with us, lol.
I've always loved writing but I never thought it would be my life's ambition or anything. I thought it was a hobby. That is until I started publishing. I still don't really make anywhere near enough to live off my royalties alone and don't see that changing any time soon. I'm happy having a day job or whatever, so long as I get to keep time for my books.
I'm a total night owl. I could stay up all night and sleep all day, but then my routine goes all out of sync. So as much as my writing flows better later at night. It's better if I can write in the afternoon.
A huge chunk of my #books are #British #Contemporary #Romances but I also have some #Reverse #Harems, #Fantasy, #Paranormal and #Organised #Crime, #Dark #Romances. There's something for everyone.
"British author with a world inside her head that insists on being put to paper."
I'm currently working on two #stories, Flip A Coin and INSTINCT. Flip A Coin is the first of my #Organised #Crime #series and can be read as a #serial on #Radish. INSTINCT is a #dark #pnr #romance about #Vampires. After that I will be returning to my #Contemporary #Reverse #Harem #Rock #Star #series, Lust & Lyrics with All Mine.
I'm actually doing a little market #research right now. I've been #reading on #Radish to try and get a grapple with what the #readers on there like to #read and how best to go about publishing on this new to me platform.
I try to write something that will not only entertain but inspire and hopefully help my readers. I want them to take something from what I write. I write a little note to my readers at the beginning of most of my books, telling them what I hope they will gain from the book. So, the rules series was all about realising that you should set your own rules and expectations and not live by someone else's. But it was also about realising that those rules should be fluid and amendable, and sometimes even breakable.
With the History series I wanted my readers to realise that although you can't change the past, you can't delete it or hide from it, you can learn and grow from it. That fucked up past that we all have is what makes us us.
The Intimacy Series was about understanding that love and intimacy comes at a price. There's a risk involved but if you find the right person, they'll be worth the risk. The Fate Series was a bit of a wish or a hope. My hope that my readers would find a love that is so good it must be fated. That might be wishful thinking, but I'm a dreamer.
A History In Paris isn't a Happy Ever After sort of story. It's reality. Too often love isn't built to last but the failed loves of the past lead us to the true love that's waiting for us. This book follows Clara's parents as they fall in love and have children before divorcing. It doesn't end happily as anyone who has read the rest of the series already knows, but that doesn't make their love any less beautiful.
The History Series is a complete series so if you hate waiting for the next book in a series, this is a great series for you. It would be great if you'd one click it today!
You can either purchase each book individually or purchase them all together in a box set for slightly less money.
This series is perfect for you if you enjoy second chance office romances and if you love your sex scenes hot, and your love mixed with heartache and humour.
The History Series will be available on Radish from September onward.
An #author's mind is a mixing pot of ideas and interwoven #plot points. There are more voices than can possibly be healthy. We're always inclined to write down what we're thinking too, because those words, that feeling, that brokenness is exactly what our next #book needs. Just as much as a #reader will lose themselves in a #book, #authors lose themselves in the world of #imagination that creates those books.
#Authors spend a ridiculous amount of time hunched over a notebook or laptop. There is just no avoiding the inevitable bad back. And neck. By the time a #book is finished, I can hardly walk and I just want to curl up in a ball and forget everything, unless someone is willing to walk on my back.
Throughout history most of the saddest people were #writers. Health.com even says that #writing is one of the top ten professions most likely to lead to depression. I don't know if its because that unhappiness leads to genius or that the genius leads to unhappiness, but its fair to say, we writers are a temperamental, emotional bunch.
We spend all day #writing, sat alone at our desk or in a coffee shop. We watch the world go by and #write, all the while forgetting what it actually is to interact with other human beings.
Most of the time we ignore the fact that there are absolutely no guarantees. We say it doesn't matter that we have no idea how much #money we'll make from our next #release. It doesn't matter if it's enough to live or cover #expenses. That's just the price of #art. But god, in the dark at night, when I'm lying in bed thinking about it... yeah, it matters then.
With every new book, we show a little more of our #soul to the world outside. We uncover some #secret we'd vowed never to share or we sob as we #write our own #feelings onto the paper. It's scary as hell and we get through it by telling ourselves that it's just the character's feelings, not ours.
More often than I care to admit, I hit a wall. My #writing stagnates and anything that I actually put to paper is pure SHIT! But for the most part, I can't even get the words onto the paper.
#Authors have to work hard to #promote their work but at the same time it's super awkward and we really don't want to be #spammy asshats. So we try to build #relationship instead. We try to introduce you to us the person and hope that you might actually like us.
There's always another #author who is doing better, making more #money, #writing better #books. Sometimes, it is easy to forget that we've all got different #stories to tell. It's important to #learn from others, compare yourselves just enough to improve but never enough to get downhearted.
When I first started #writing, I was terrified what my #family might think. So scared in fact, that I kept it a #secret for over a year. Now, I'm more willing to open up about it, although I still get #nervous. My gran tells everyone about my #books and is always asking me for the next one. Seriously, she finishes one and expects the next one to be on the way. I'm quick but I'm not that quick.
I've been writing since 2015 which seems like such a long time ago now. I guess it kind of it. Four years is quite a long time. It all started with The Rules Series. Enforced Rules is the second book in the series. There are now three more series in the Hanleigh's London Saga with a total of sixteen books (or at least it will be on the 20th April when Irreversible Fate goes finally LIVE).
She’s under his skin, in his mind, and pushing her way into his heart. Aurora’s threatening to steal his control. She sees more than he wants her to.
Landon doesn’t do vulnerable. He doesn’t do weak. And that’s exactly what she does to him… She’s got him completely at her mercy.
Landon's world is unravelling and fast and it's all Aurora's fault. With control out of his reach though he might just push to enforce the rules between himself and Aurora in a desperate attempt to reclaim the control he craves.
After all, he told Aurora he would help her break her rules but he hadn't planned on it being at the expense of his own. But will his need for control prove too much for Aurora?
Can this British bad boy and pretty English socialite balance their need for control or will their relationship fail before it even really begins?
The second book in a four book complete series, Enforced Rules is the story of two Londoners. If you love CEO romances this is definitely the book for you.
Available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited, although Hanleigh also hopes to release an Audiobook in the near future.
The best bit is that Enforced Rules is part of a complete series so you don't have to wait to read the next book in the series, it's already available. You can also save some pennies when you buy the box set instead of buying the books individually, just enough money to buy another book.
